What We Do Not Take On
We stick to garage doors and the hardware that runs them - springs, openers, tracks, cables, rollers, and panels. We don't frame new openings, pour slabs, or build out a garage bay as part of new construction. If a door needs structural carpentry before it can be hung, that's a job for a contractor first; we'll come back once the opening is square and ready.
We also won't tell you a repair is the right call when it isn't. A door past a certain age, with a bent track and a cracked panel, is usually cheaper to replace outright than to patch piece by piece, and we'll say so even if it means a smaller invoice for us.
One honest limit on timing: some opener boards and spring sizes aren't something we carry on the truck, especially for older torsion setups still common on houses built in the 1960s and 70s around here. If your part needs to be ordered, we'll tell you that on the first visit instead of letting you find out when the truck shows up empty-handed.
What We Actually Do
Most of the work is springs, openers, and tracks on houses in Norwalk and the towns around it - Darien, Westport, New Canaan, and out toward Wilton, Weston, and Ridgefield. A lot of that housing stock went up between 1955 and 1984, with the median build year sitting around 1968, which means a fair share of the doors we touch still run on original torsion hardware sized for that era rather than whatever's stocked at the big box store.
Winters here land on the severe end of the cold climate band, and that matters for garage doors more than people expect. Cold stiffens the lubricant in a torsion spring and pulls cables tight enough that a line already fraying can snap on a hard morning instead of waiting for spring. We see more spring failures and broken cables in the cold months than any other time of year, and most of those calls are on doors that were already overdue for a look.
We also handle panel replacement, roller swaps, and opener installs and repairs - chain drive, belt drive, screw drive, whatever's already mounted. If a door is salvageable, we'll say so and fix the part that failed instead of pushing a full replacement.
Getting Hold of Us
Call 1 (475) 203-3825. That's the number that reaches a person who can get a time on the calendar, not a loop of menus. Tell them what the door is doing - won't open, came off track, spring snapped, opener clicking but nothing moving - and they'll give you a rough sense of what it is before anyone drives out.
Our shop is at 83 East Ave, Norwalk, CT 06851. You don't need to come by for a repair quote, but if you want to talk through a replacement door in person, that's the address.
After the call, the next step is a visit where someone looks at the actual door, gives you a price before doing anything, and does the job on the spot if the parts are on the truck. If something has to be ordered, you'll hear that up front, not after the work's already started.
Who Turns Up
The person who comes to your driveway is the one who'll diagnose the door, quote the fix, and do the work if you say go. They'll check the spring, cables, rollers, track alignment, and opener before touching anything, because a door that won't open can have more than one thing wrong with it at once - a weak spring masking a bent track, for instance.
You'll get a price before any work starts, not an estimate that changes once the job's underway. If the fix is straightforward - a broken spring, a worn cable, a sensor out of alignment - it usually gets done in that same visit. If the door needs a part we don't carry, you'll know that before the truck leaves, along with a rough sense of when it'll be back in stock.
We don't oversell. If the cheaper fix will hold for years, that's what gets recommended, even on an older door that's clearly nearing the end of its run.
Frequently asked questions
Do you serve towns outside Norwalk?
Yes. We regularly reach Darien and Westport, each about four miles out, New Canaan at five miles, and farther towns like Wilton, Weston, and Ridgefield. Call and tell us your town; if it's within a reasonable drive we'll get you a time.
Can you come same day for a broken spring?
Often, yes, especially in cold months when spring and cable failures spike. Call the number above and describe what the door is doing - a snapped spring is usually a same-visit fix if the right size is already on the truck.
What if my opener model is old?
We work on chain, belt, and screw drive openers regardless of age. If a board or part isn't something we stock, we'll tell you that during the visit rather than leave you guessing, and give you a sense of lead time.
